Yesterday, Representative Donna Edwards of Maryland’s 4th District talked about the government shutdown and its effects on C-Span Radio. She responded to telephone calls and electronic communications.

Representative Edwards speaks about furloughed federal workers in Maryland, and programs that have been affected by the shutdown.  She shares her perspective on the need to get the government open by passing a continuing resolution, raise the debt ceiling, and appoint conferees to a conference committee.  She also describes what will happen if the debt ceiling is not raised and ideas for long-term debt reduction.
