With historic investments bringing high-speed internet to more Maryland communities, counties are increasingly focused on how to maximize those investments and ensure broadband expansion delivers lasting economic and community benefits.

From Broadband to Economic Opportunity: Building Maryland’s Digital Future

Broadband has become essential infrastructure for today’s economy. As counties expand access to underserved and rural communities, the conversation is shifting from where broadband is available to how it can support business growth, attract employers, strengthen the workforce, improve access to healthcare and education, and build more resilient communities.

This session will examine how counties can leverage broadband investments to drive long-term economic opportunity. Panelists will discuss Maryland’s broadband expansion efforts, highlight successful projects from across the State, and explore how local governments can partner with regional organizations and providers to ensure digital infrastructure supports future growth.
