Maryland Environmental Leader Kim Coble Announces Retirement

Kim Coble, a longtime advocate on environmental and climate policy issues in Maryland, has announced plans to retire as executive director of the Maryland League of Conservation Voters (Maryland LCV) and Maryland LCV Education Fund.

Coble has led the organization since 2019, overseeing a period of significant growth and helping shape several major environmental policy discussions in Annapolis. Prior to joining Maryland LCV, she served in leadership roles at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, where she worked on environmental protection and restoration efforts across the region.

Throughout her tenure, Coble was a frequent participant in statewide policy discussions involving environmental, energy, and climate issues. Maryland LCV regularly engaged with stakeholders across state and local government, including MACo and county leaders, on legislation and policy proposals affecting local communities.

From the press release:

“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with our talented staff, dedicated Board members, and inspiring Administration officials and legislative leaders,” Coble said in the announcement. “Together, we have made meaningful strides to protect Maryland’s environment.”

Maryland LCV announced that Coble will remain in her role while the organization conducts a search for its next executive director.

Over the course of her career, Coble has been a familiar presence in Maryland policy discussions involving environmental protection, Chesapeake Bay restoration, climate policy, and conservation issues. Her retirement marks the conclusion of decades of service in Maryland’s environmental and public policy communities.
