A September 2 housing forum in Baltimore City will bring together local, state, and national leaders to discuss how federal housing legislation could affect communities on the ground.

Baltimore City Council Member Odette Ramos will host “The Impact of Federal Legislation on Baltimore City” on Wednesday, September 2, at Baltimore Unity Hall. The discussion will focus on the federal ROAD to Housing Act and other housing initiatives moving at the federal level.

The program will feature perspectives from the National Association of Counties, National League of Cities, and Enterprise Community Partners, with a focus on what federal action could mean for Baltimore City and other local governments.

Kyara Uqdah, CEO of Charm City Buyers, will moderate the discussion. Panelists include Jared Grigas, associate legislative director for NACo; Xavier Arriaga, associate policy director with Enterprise Community Partners; and Michael Wallace, program director for community and economic development at the National League of Cities.

Council Member Ramos and Senator Antonio Hayes will provide opening remarks.

Housing affordability and supply remain major issues for local governments, while decisions in Washington can shape the funding and tools available to address them. The forum will give attendees a closer look at federal proposals under consideration and how they could affect housing efforts in Baltimore City.

The event begins with coffee and networking at 8:00 am, followed by the program at 8:30 am, at Baltimore Unity Hall, 1505 Eutaw Place, Baltimore, MD 21217.
