Mail-In Ballot Deadline Looms as Primary Election Nears

Maryland voters who plan to cast ballots by mail in the June 23 gubernatorial primary should take note of several upcoming deadlines.

Voters who want to receive a mail-in ballot by mail or fax must submit their request by Tuesday, June 16. Election officials must receive the request by that date.

Voters who prefer to receive a mail-in ballot electronically have until Friday, June 19, to submit an online request.

Maryland voters can request a mail-in ballot through the State Board of Elections website.

Early voting begins Thursday, June 11, and continues through Thursday, June 18. Early voting centers will operate from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm each day.

Voters who choose to vote by mail have several options for returning their ballot. Ballots returned by mail must have a postmark on or before Election Day, Tuesday, June 23. Voters may also return completed ballots at ballot drop boxes, local boards of elections, or early voting centers. Hand-delivered ballots must arrive by 8:00 pm on Election Day.

Election Day voting will take place Tuesday, June 23, from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Voters must vote at their assigned polling place.

As previously reported on Conduit Street, State election officials issued replacement ballots to voters who requested a mail-in ballot before May 14 after identifying a ballot style error. Those voters should use the replacement ballot and discard the original ballot to ensure that election officials count the correct party ballot.

Local boards of elections are now preparing for early voting, Election Day operations, ballot collection, and mail-in ballot canvassing as the primary election approaches.

Additional information, including voting locations, ballot tracking, and mail-in ballot requests, is available on the Maryland State Board of Elections website.
