Talbot County has opened a new emergency medical services station in Cordova that will improve emergency response times for residents in the county’s
northern region while expanding the county’s long-term emergency medical services capacity.
Station 95 was designed to support the county’s growing EMS system and will soon become home to Paramedic 95, a two-person advanced life support crew staffed around the clock. The facility features four apparatus bays, dedicated storage space, living quarters for 24-hour personnel, and room to accommodate future growth as emergency service needs evolve. Additionally, the venture will help alleviate space constraints at local volunteer fire stations while supporting the county’s continued partnership with volunteer fire companies.
“This station represents more than a new facility,” said Brian LeCates, Director of the Talbot County Department of Emergency Services. “We are opening a new chapter in emergency medical services for this area of the county—one that strengthens our ability to deliver timely care, improve service to our northern communities, and reinforces our promise to provide the highest level of emergency medical care possible.”
The dedication also honored the legacy of former Talbot County Council Member Sylvia Jarboe Gannon, whose early advocacy for advanced life support helped shape emergency medical services in Talbot County. A permanent plaque inside the station recognizes her vision and longstanding commitment to improving emergency medical care for county residents.
