Alex Butler is departing the MACo policy team to take a new role with the Office of the Comptroller, as Director of Intergovernmental Affairs.
Alex has worked with MACo since 2019, taking a lead policy role across multiple topic areas – including planning & zoning, environment, and public ethics and information. He has served as lead staff to MACo’s Land Use Subcommittee, and has contributed widely to MACo’s legislative and agency advocacy on counties’ behalf.
“Alex quickly gained the understanding and composure needed to advocate for a long list of county priorities,” said Executive Director Michael Sanderson. “He’s accomplished a lot for our county members, and it’s no surprise that he’s been recognized for that with this new opportunity.”
In his new role with the Comptroller, Mr. Butler will continue to connect with local governments in his intergovernmental role. He also expects to contribute to the Office’s policy and legislative efforts, drawing on his relationships and experience during his time with MACo.
MACo wishes Alex much success in the new role.
