Queen Anne’s County Sheriff Gary Hofmann announced a new initiative on Friday for community volunteers to assist the county’s Parks and Recreation Ranger Team and Sheriff’s Deputies in monitoring the community bike trails and beaches, and offer community outreach to visitors.
The announcement was made via QACTV video, which can be found on the county’s YouTube page, social media channels, and public access television station.
The civilian volunteers are available to offer advice on popular locations to visit within the county, and also come prepared with first-aid kits, personal protective equipment (PPE), and bottles of water in case they need to assist visitors in distress on the trail.
The civilian volunteers have no police powers through this initiative, their aim is to provide a friendly face and serve as an additional information resource to visitors on the bike trails and beaches.
