Montgomery County Council Member and MACo’s Education Subcommittee Chair Craig Rice has joined the NACo Board of Directors.
Maryland has two seats on the National Association of Counties’ Board of Directors, the body that guides the overall direction and efforts of our nationwide association. Craig Rice, a third-term Council Member in Montgomery County, has been appointed to serve as Maryland’s second representative, joining Baltimore City Council Member Sharon Green Middleton.
From Rice’s online biography page is a summary of his leadership in local government roles:
Craig chairs the Council’s Education and Culture Committee and also serves on its Health and Human Services Committee. In addition, he serves as the Council’s representative to the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) in Annapolis, chairs MACo’s Education Sub-Committee, and is currently President of the MACo Diversity Caucus. Craig chaired the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) Chesapeake Bay and Water Resources Policy Committee until 2017, and continues to serve on the committee.
Rice previously served in the House of Delegates, as a member of the Ways and Means Committee.
Maryland’s 24 counties all belong as members of NACo, and our state’s 100% participation grants the privilege of a second Board seat.
