Wantz to Serve on FEMA Regional Advisory Council

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently appointed Carroll County Board of Commissioners President Stephen A. Wantz to the Regional Advisory Council (RAC) in Region III. Along with working to improve communication and coordination between emergency managers and first responders, the council focuses on enhancing preparedness for future disasters.

FEMA Region III, which represents the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, Pensylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia, coordinates closely with the Private Sector to ensure the sharing of information and engagement during steady state and disaster response and recovery.

According to a press release:

Commissioner Wantz represents one of the few elected officials appointed to the United States Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Region III Advisory Council.

“I am honored to accept this appointment and serve the region and Carroll County in this important initiative,” Commissioner Wantz said, “My extensive career in public safety and subsequent public service are grounded on my passionate support and commitment to any means improving public safety and I look forward to working with this exemplary group to create safer and more prepared communities.”

Earlier this year, Commissioner Wantz was elected and inaugurated as a member of the MACo Board of Directors.
