Dr. David Lever has resigned from his role as head of the Interagency Committee on School Construction.

Following a charged meeting of the Board of Public Works today, Dr. David Lever has resigned. His resignation from the Interagency Committee on School Construction (IAC) will be effective September 1, 2016.
Lever described in his resignation letter how deferral to local boards of education in formulating capital programs had been a core tenet of the school construction program — and one that he now sees as threatened, stating,
“It appears that the Board of Public Works now intends to use its authority over capital funding to compel school systems to meet its objectives, irrespective of whether these objectives align with local priorities and the recommendations of the IAC.”
