As reported in the Cecil Daily, nearly 300 people celebrated Earth Day early by spending their Saturday morning cleaning up parks along the Susquehanna River as part of the 13th-annual River Sweep.
Mary Ann Lisanti, Harford County Council Member and Executive Director of the Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway, was reported as saying that less trash was collected than in past years, a fact she attributes in part to people being more diligent about not littering.
“I think the people are more responsible and more conscious of where they put their trash now days, since both counties recycle,” Lisanti said. “Hopefully, we will see the drop in trash continue.”
There have been many earth day celebrations throughout the state this month. For more information on the River Sweep, see the full story from the Cecil Daily.
