Henry Parker Honored as 2012 Recipient of MACo’s Marilyn J. Praisner Public Service Award

Henry Shipley Parker, Past President of MACo and former Wicomico County Councilman, will be honored at the MACo Winter Conference on January 5, 2012 as the 2012 recipient of the Marilyn J. Praisner Public Service Award.  Mr. Parker was selected by the MACo Awards Committee from a slate of nominations submitted by county chief elected officials. His nomination was submitted by the Wicomico County Executive and Council jointly.

Mr. Parker served on the Wicomico County Council for 16 years from 1982 to 1998, as President for 12 years and Vice President for 4 years. He also served on the MACo Board of Directors from 1982 to 1998.  In 1993, he was elected President of the Association by the membership.

Mr. Parker based his entire political career on a simple, rock solid foundation:  to be a public servant who listens and makes decisions, however difficult, that will be in the best interest of his fellow citizens. His belief in fairness, respect, and honesty in all things has never wavered.

MACo congratulates Mr. Parker on winning this award, and for his dedication to Wicomico County and this Board.

    Henry Parker’s name and reputation continue to bring distinction to MACO and Wicomico County.
