During a recent meeting of environmental organizations, legislation including increases to the flush fee, and requirements that local governments create their own funds to upgrade storm drains, were discussed. Maggie McIntosh, Chair of the House Environmental Matters Committee, whose committee would consider this legislation, indicated the bills may not go anywhere during this particular session.
“The storm water bill has been introduced twice, I do not know if it’s going to be introduced again, but I do know this, that there is broad consensus, broad consensus to get all the stakeholders together and to work out a solution to how we are going to fund storm water and retrofits.
Chairman McIntosh did say she anticipates legislation during the 2012 session that rolls issues of storm water, sewage treatment and water resources generally into one package.
