DNR To Hold Open Houses on State Oyster Proposals

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is holding a series of open houses across affected counties on its proposed Oyster Restoration and Aquaculture Development Plan.  The Plan will expand current oyster sanctuaries and increase areas open to leasing for oyster aquaculture.  Some counties and watermen groups have raised concerns about the Plan’s impact on oyster harvesting.

Open houses for the Upper Eastern Shore and Upper Western Shore were held on January 7 and January 14 respectively.
