Dominic Butchko Marks 5Y Anniversary With MACo Policy Team

MACo’s Director of Intergovernmental Relations Dominic Butchko recently marked five years of service as part of the MACo policy team.

MACo is pleased to celebrate the five year work anniversary of Mr. Butchko, who joined the MACo staff in 2021.

He has covered a policy portfolio including land use, housing, and environmental issues; transportation and public works; and parks & recreation topics. He covers these topics as part of the MACo policy team, along with bridge-building responsibilities within his Intergovernmental Relations role.

Mr. Butchko has also served as the lead for MACo’s Land Use Subcommittee, which reviews and makes recommendations on legislation dealing with planning and zoning, solid waste, recycling, and environmental stewardship. He has worked closely with the Rural County Coalition through their efforts to review legislation for specific rural county effects, and to develop content for their meetings during MACo conferences.

“Dom has become an outspoken and active voice for counties, and their concerns,” said MACo Executive Director Michael Sanderson. “Policymakers know he’s a go-to person for a lot of topics they care about — that reputation benefits both MACo and our county interests.”

Mr. Butchko has a M.A. in Public Management from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. in Political Science from Wilkes University.
