If you’ve ever watched Disney’s Tuck Everlasting, you’ve already seen one of Maryland’s most beautiful natural treasures on screen.

Several scenes from the 2002 film were shot throughout the state, including one of the most memorable and iconic at Kilgore Falls in Harford County. There, the waterfall serves as the backdrop for the unforgettable scene where Winnie Foster and Jesse Tuck go swimming—a peaceful moment that captures the wonder and magic of their extraordinary story.

At just 17 feet tall, Kilgore Falls is Maryland’s second-highest free-falling waterfall, tucked away within the Falling Branch area of Rocks State Park. Its lush forest and rugged rock formations help explain why filmmakers chose it to bring the timeless world of Tuck Everlasting to life.

Several scenes were also filmed in the charming town of Berlin and at the scenic Loch Raven Reservoir. Berlin transformed into the fictional town of Treegap, with the production crew covering paved streets with dirt and making subtle changes to storefronts and buildings to recreate the look and feel of a quiet rural community in the early 1900s.

While Kilgore Falls may have played a magical role on the big screen, visitors today can still hike to the waterfall, admire the same picturesque scenery, and stand in the very spot where movie magic was made. In Maryland, sometimes Hollywood doesn’t need a studio set—just a spectacular corner of the state.
