Dr. Annette Wallace – a lifelong resident of Worcester County and graduate of Worcester County Public Schools – has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Worcester County Public Schools (WCPS). Dr. Wallace’s tenure begins effective July 1, 2025.
Dr. Wallace moves into this new role after 22 years with the school system, and currently serving as Chief Safety and Academic Officer for grades 9-12. She holds a doctorate in educational leadership and has a background in both teaching and administration. Her appointment comes following a comprehensive search process, including public input and a nationwide recruitment effort managed by the Maryland Association of Boards of Education (MABE). The position was vacated when the former Superintendent retired after 41 years.
Dr Wallace shared some remarks in the WCPS press release:
“Our team will stay committed to our core mission of providing every student with a high-quality education that meets the needs of the whole child. We will focus on every student reading on grade level by grade 3, a marker of continued academic success. It will be our goal for every student to gain an education beyond high school through a skilled trade program, the military, and/or college or university. We will accomplish this by knowing every student by name, strength, and need.”
The Worcester County Board of Education expressed confidence in Dr. Wallace’s ability to continue the district’s tradition of excellence and to lead WCPS into the future.
