SOLUTIONS SHOWCASE SESSION:

Title: The Retirement of Brandon Shores Coal-fired Power Plant and the Transmission Investment Required to Make It Happen

Description: The Brandon Shores Generating Station, a significant coal-fired power plant in Anne Arundel County, announced its retirement. PJM Interconnections, the Regional Transmission Operator, determined the retirement date must be extended since significant transmission and substation work by BGE must occur to import electricity from a nuclear plant in Pennsylvania. The session will provide an overview of the extensive infrastructure work required and will emphasize the need for local partnership as electrification is expanded in Maryland.
