LGIT Announces Newly Promoted Staff Leadership: Peter, Bohlen

The Local Government Insurance Trust has announced the promotion of two longtime staff members to leadership roles within the longstanding service organization – as Matthew Peter has been named Executive Director, and Larry Bohlen Deputy Director. Both take these roles following years of successful service with LGIT.

LGIT Executive Director Matthew Peter, Esq.

From a letter sent to LGIT membership by LGIT Board of Trustees Chair Ted Zaleski:

We are excited to share the news that the Board of Trustees has decided to remove the interim from Matthew Peter’s title and has named him Executive Director at LGIT.  Over the last several months, Matt has performed admirably and proven to the Board that he has the knowledge, skills, and temperament to run this organization and serve our membership.

The Board would also like to announce that Larry Bohlen has been named Deputy Executive Director.  With almost twenty years of dedicated service to LGIT, Larry brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this newly created position.  During his tenure, Larry has made significant contributions to LGIT, first as Training Coordinator and most recently as Director of Field Services.  As Deputy Executive Director, Larry will play an important role in governing the trust and overseeing day-to-day operations.  He will collaborate closely with Matt, our members, and strategic partners, working to build on our successes and explore opportunities to enhance the coverages and services that LGIT offers.  Larry will take on these duties all while continuing to serve as Director of Field Services.  Serving in dual roles will be challenging, but Larry is certainly up to that challenge and will undoubtedly succeed in both roles.

With their educational backgrounds and extensive experience at LGIT, Matt and Larry are both well-equipped to excel in their new positions.  Their promotions are a testament to their hard work, dedication to our Members, and unwavering support for LGIT and our mission.  Please join the Board of Trustees in extending our warmest wishes to Matt, Larry, and the entire LGIT staff during this continued period of transition and beyond.

Be sure to visit with both Matt and Larry (both already familiar faces) if you are visiting the Maryland Municipal League conference next week, or at summer #MACoCon in August!
