Baltimore County Executive and 2024 MACo President Johnny Olszewski is the Democratic nominee to replace longtime Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger. In November, County Executive Olszewski will face Republican Kim Klacik, who also prevailed in Tuesday’s primary election.
According to the Maryland State Board of Elections, Olszewski received 78 percent of the vote in the Democratic primary. Meanwhile, Klacik earned 64 percent of the vote in the Republican primary election.
Olszewski is serving his second term as Baltimore County Executive. A former school teacher, he is a native of Dundalk, Maryland. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Goucher College, a master’s degree from George Washington University, and a PhD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. The County Executive had previously served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates for eight years.
Kim Klacik is a businesswoman and political commentator. She was the Republican nominee for Maryland’s 7th congressional district in the April 2020 special election, held following the death of incumbent Elijah Cummings, and the subsequent November 2020 election. In both 2020 elections, she lost to Congressman Kweisi Mfume.
