Millard House II will lead Prince George’s County Public Schools starting July 1, 2023.
Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks has selected Millard House II as the next superintendent of the Prince George’s County School system (PGCPS) as current Dr. Monica Goldson retires later this month. House, who will come Prince George’s County from Texas, was selected after a national search.
House most recently led the Houston Texas Independent School District as superintendent, a position he left last Friday to joun PGCPS. Millard was priased for his work improving low performance schools in Houston. When he took on the Houston Superintendent role two years ago, he described his educational philosophy this way; “I want to focus on ensuring we provide the equitable experiences that ensure our students are college and career ready that takes work that takes planning.”
In addition to his work in Houston, House has extensive educational leadership experience all over the country, including as:
- Director of Schools, Clarkville-Montgomery County School System in Tennessee;
- Chief Operating Officer, Charlotte-Mecklenberg Schools in North Carolina; and
- Deputy Superintendt, Tulsa Public Schools in Oklahoma.
He also brings more than 25 years of expereince in education and nonprofit sector. He previously served as Eecutive Director of education advocacy organization New Leaders for New Schools.
