Queen Anne’s Detention Center Renovation Included in Proposed FY2024 Budget

$34M over three years has been included in the Queen Anne’s County Commissioners proposed budget for fiscal year 2024.

Of thirteen FY2024 proposed capital budget highlights for Queen Anne’s County (QAC), the Detention Center Renovation and Expansion topped the list with a proposed $12.5M appropriation in FY2024. Other cap-x highlights in the proposal included $6.6M for roads, $6.4M to the Board of Education, and $3.2M for parks.

A $2.3M update was undertake in 2009 with the addition of 11 modular units. This opened up room for 44 additional inmates and better accommodations for female populations.

  • Drug and alcohol addiction classes
  • GED classes
  • Health care services
  • Library and legal services
  • Meals 3 times daily
