January 19 Webinar: The Rising Importance & Popularity of Youth Career Development

Join a coalition of policy leaders and think tanks for an informative webinar on the growing importance — and popularity — of career development education.

On Thursday, January 19th at 2:00 pm, Maryland’s own Senator Jim Rosapepe will participate in a webinar discussion on workforce development and career readiness education for America’s students.  The virtual panel, titled “New Skills for A New Economy: The Rising Importance & Popularity of Youth Career Development,” will bring together national leaders on workforce readiness to discuss the increasingly important issue in public education and economic policy.

The event page states that the panel will discuss “the importance of preparing young people for career success” and “the policies and practices they are championing in their states and communities as well as the rising political will to ensure young people learn the skills needed to succeed in the U.S. economy.” Attendees will learn about “the current state of workforce development policy and its impact on America’s young people and our economy.”

The Blueprint for Maryland’s Future deepens the State’s commitment to career readiness and career and technical education (CTE) for Maryland’s students — and provides increased technical and financial support for county governments and local education agencies to do so. This webinar is sure to be of interest to county leaders working on this critical aspect of The Blueprint and workforce development.

Panelists:
• Hon. Jim Rosapepe, Maryland State Senate
• Don Fraser, Education Design Lab
• Lateefah Durant, Cityworks DC

Moderator:

  • Taylor Maag, Director of Workforce Development at PPI

The webinar is hosted by the Progressive Policy Institute’s (PPI) New Skills for A New Economy Project, the Reinventing America’s Schools Project, and The 74.
