Fun Fact: This County is Celebrating its Sesquicentennial Anniversary

Next week, Garrett County will kick off celebrations for its sesquicentennial or 150th Anniversary.

Garrett County was incorporated on December 4, 1872, the last of 24 counties in the state. Named after then President of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, John Work Garrett, it is the westernmost county in Maryland.

Celebrations will kick off at the Garrett County Courthouse next week and will continue throughout 2022, with events, displays, commemorative coin souvenirs, and community participation opportunities.
