On Thursday, November 18th, the Allegany County Commissioners unveiled a partnership with Jones Development Company, LLC to construct a 193,000 square foot distribution center, which will then be leased to FedEx Ground. The facility will reside on 40 acres of privately owned land on Maryland Route 51.

Jacob C. Shade, President of Allegany County’s Board of County Commissioners, stated in a press release:

“I join with my fellow County Commissioners, Creade V. Brodie, Jr. and David J. Caporale, to warmly welcome Jones Development and FedEx Ground to Allegany County. These high caliber companies recognize that Allegany County is a great place to do business. We will continue to promote opportunities for all types of commercial entities, new entrepreneurs and established companies, to locate and expand here. Landing this project is a huge win for all of us in Allegany County and one to build-upon in the future.”

According to Jeffrey S. Barclay, Allegany County’s Director of Economic & Community Development, the project will result in additional construction jobs as well as new full and part-time positions at the completed facility.
