Prince George’s County Executive Proposes New Public Health Facility

Healthcare SystemRather than expand an existing police training facility, Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks has proposed funding the development of a new public health facility.

A total of $20 million initially intended to fund the expansion of the police facility would be shifted towards building the public health facility.

Maryland Matters reports:

Alsobrooks said the new facility will treat mental health and addiction. The health facility would be built using money originally in the county police department’s budget for a new public safety training facility.

It will ultimately be up to the County Council to add the health facility to the existing bond legislation for voters to decide in November, according to a news release.

The article also notes that Alsobrooks will create a community workgroup to recommend police reforms.
