MAFSM Hosting 15th Annual Conference on Stormwater & Floodplain Management

The Maryland Association of Floodplain and Stormwater Managers (MAFSM) is hosting its 15th Annual Conference on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at the Maritime Institute in Linthicum Heights, Maryland. The Conference will include a variety of stormwater and floodplain management sessions.

In addition to the full conference on November 7, interested individuals can also register for a floodplain management training class on November 6 and the Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) exam on November 8. The training class and exam will be at the National Wildlife Visitor Center  in Laurel.

The Maryland Association of Floodplain and Stormwater Managers invites you to REGISTER NOW for our 15th Annual Conference. The event will take place at the Maritime Institute of Technology in Linthicum, MD. This event includes over 30 technical sessions sharing best practices and innovations in floodplain management, stormwater management, climate adaptation, outreach and community engagement, and mitigation.

There will also be vendor exhibits and networking opportunities among the 175+ professionals from local, state, and federal government agencies, non-profits, academia, and the private sector. Conference attendance includes annual membership to our organization. And, in addition to refreshments and snacks during the morning and afternoon sessions, there’s a lunch buffet that’s not-to-be-missed, and a networking social/mixer at the end of the day, with complimentary drinks and light fare.

Keynote speakers include Dorchester County Long Range Planner, Floodplain Administrator, and CRS Coordinator Brian Soper and Caroline County Deputy Emergency Services Director Anna Sierra. They will discuss “History and Hazards: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Local Flood Mitigation.”

The Conference is expected to be approved for professional credit and scholarships are available. Basic registration for Conference is $130. The training class costs $50 (separate from the basic registration). Sponsorship and exhibitor packages are also available.
