robotTo add to the learning opportunities, MACo is planning a Tech Expo for Wednesday, August 15. MACo is thrilled to bring our attendees three Deep Dive sessions focusing on Cybersecurity, Biotech, and Small Cells. Participants will learn what’s next for county governments on the technology frontier. The sessions will be very in-depth and interactive.

Technology vendors will be highlighted through a special 50-booth one-day table-top exhibit show on Wednesday. (View the Exhibitor Brochure)

More information will be available soon, but the Deep Dive sessions are developing quickly:

All Hands on Deck: Cybersecurity for County Governments
County government networks possess a wealth of valuable personal information, including Social Security numbers, tax ID numbers, health information, and other sensitive data. This makes county government employees at every level potential targets for online pirates looking to steal sensitive information. Even well-meaning and internet-savvy employees may fall prey to inappropriate release of data…with multiple consequences. Learn from Maryland’s leading cybersecurity firms how counties can work together to keep fast all data, including personal information.

Anchor Your Local Economy with Biotech
The industry of biotechnology can help shore up a county’s economic development, creating health and wealth for local communities. Biotech, or the use of biological processes for industrial purposes (including the production of antibiotics and other disease-fighting medicines), may directly address health issues faced by your residents. At the same time, this emerging industry can create career-track job opportunities that set young professionals on a course to settle down in your county. In this session, hear about new developments in Maryland’s biotech community, including advancements that set Maryland upwind of other states in the biotech race. Learn how your county can attract biotech businesses and take advantage of the statewide biotech berth.
