In a 2016-09-07 email announcement, the Harry R. Hughes Center for Agro-Ecology announced it will be holding a series of five workshops across the state for local governments and other identified stakeholders on Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP) issues. From the email:
Five regional WIP workshops will be held this month and next throughout the State of Maryland. The purpose of the meetings is to communicate the 2-year milestone commitments, status of Bay restoration and also the progress made through our partnerships with local governments, conservation districts and private sector; to identify funding opportunities, explain ranking process, application process and use of restoration funds so as to maximize opportunities for restoration; to provide a summary of the upcoming midpoint assessment elements and timeline through the completion of the Phase III WIP, including Conowingo infill; and to share EPA preliminary expectations and begin collaborating on the alignment of local and State priorities as we contemplate the Phase III WIP. Presentations will be made by staff of Maryland Department of Agriculture, Department of the Environment, and Department of Natural Resources.
The workshops are being sponsored by the Harry R. Hughes Center for Agro-Ecology of the University of Maryland and funded by the Town Creek Foundation so there is no cost to you to participate. The dates and locations for the workshops are listed below. The doors will open at 9:00 am with the meeting hours beginning at 9:30 am and concluding by 4:00 PM. Continental breakfast and lunch will be served. We hope that you will be able to attend the event in your area.
