Governor Releases Supplemental Funds for Drug Treatment

Governor Larry Hogan has released a third supplemental budget which includes additional funding for substance abuse and mental health services.

The appropriations were provided within the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene budget and included:

  • $1,086, 575 in federal fund block grants for prevention and treatment of substance abuse
  • $275,000 in special funds appropriation for substance abuse treatment and mental health services
  • $1,289,241 in general fund appropriations for behavioral health provider reimbursements
  • $3,000,000 in general fund appropriations for treatment services for Health-General Article Section 8-507 commitments

The additional funds are a welcome help to the state’s fight against the heroin and opioid crisis.
