The Local Government Insurance Trust (LGIT) is now accepting applications for the Law Enforcement Body Camera Grant Program:
For fiscal year 2015 LGIT is funding a special equipment grant to help our member law enforcement agencies purchase officer worn body cameras. This type of technology is rapidly becoming standard service equipment for many law enforcement agencies across the nation. LGIT believes using this type of device could have a direct impact on law enforcement liability. To help our members purchase this equipment the LGIT Board of Trustee’s has authorized this grant funding.
The grant program will provide a 50% match to the total cost of body cameras. Local governments who apply must fund the remaining 50% costs of the cameras.
Applications for upcoming the spring grant cycle are due April 24, 2015.
