Peroutka Apparent Winner in Anne Arundel Council Election

Following multiple days of vote canvassing, Michael Peroutka has seemingly emerged as the Republican nominee for Anne Arundel County’s District 5 Council Seat, which has been  in republican hands for more than two decades.

A former Constitution Party presidential candidate appears to have won the Republican nomination for a seat on the Anne Arundel County Council as the last tally of votes was completed Monday.

Following the final canvass in Glen Burnie, Michael Anthony Peroutka, a lawyer who founded the Institute on the Constitution and belongs to the Southern secessionist group, the League of the South, had a 38-vote margin over second-place finisher Maureen Carr-York in the race for the council district that includes Severna Park, Arnold and Broadneck.
