As reported in the Carroll County Times, local parent groups are hosting a forum on Common Core and PARCC assessments in an effort to educate the community and provide answers to any questions. The Carroll County forum will focus on the changes being made to the curriculum and how it will affect students and parents. The forum will be held on 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, September 19 at Winters Mill High School, 560 Gorsuch Road, Westminster.
In addition, as described in the Times, the Maryland State Department of Education will host regional public forums on Common Core and PARCC from 7-8:30 p.m. on the following dates and locations:
- Monday, Sept. 16: South Hagerstown High School, 1101 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown
- Thursday, Sept. 19: Ridge Ruxton School, 6916 N. Charles Street, Towson
- Tuesday, Oct. 1: Charles Herbert Flowers High School, 10001 Ardwick-Ardmore Road, Springdale
