Attorney General Proposes Expanding Open Meetings Act to Include Regulation Discussions

A July 22 Daily Record AP article reports that Maryland Attorney General and unofficial gubernatorial candidate Doug Gansler plans to propose expanding the State’s open meetings law to include certain regulation discussions at a public ethics issue forum he is hosting on July 24.

Gansler says part of the discussion will include a proposal for an open  meetings record law. He says it would require all meetings regarding the  development of regulations held between state employees and outside parties to  be made public.

Now, he says, such meetings are held in private.

The issue forum is one of a series the Attorney General has held – other topics have included boosting Maryland’s manufacturing base and curbing domestic violence.
