On October 19, MACo sent a letter to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requesting a copy of the Chesapeake Bay Model so that county officials could review and submit proposed modifications to the Bay Model in conjunction with the Maryland Department of the Environment. The request was the result of an October 5 Watershed Implementation Plan discussion between county officials and various stakeholders and a subsequent October 26 discussion at the MACo Administrators and Attorneys Conference.
MACo will work with EPA to secure the relevant portions of the Bay Model that were used to set the nutrient and sediment goals of the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load, including any data relating to assumptions or weighting.
