LGIT will be hosting its 25th Annual Meeting on Thursday, November 1 at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.  The day-long event will feature guest speaker Anirban Basu, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sage Policy Group Inc.  Academy for Excellence in Local Governance courses will also be offered on the Basics of Risk Management, Open Meetings, and the Structure of Municipal Government. LGIT is a non-profit association authorized by state law, wholly-owned and managed by its local government members. The Trust’s main purpose is to provide joint self-insurance programs or “pools” for towns, cities and counties in the State of Maryland. The concept is simple: rather than paying premiums to buy insurance from an insurance company, local governments contribute those premiums into a jointly-owned fund.
