2011 Summer Conference Session – Forum: Presenting PlanMaryland

Friday, August 19, 2:15 pm – 3:15 pm

Maryland has been viewed as a leader in Smart Growth and land use policies and the State hopes to further its reputation through the adoption of a statewide land use plan called “PlanMaryland.”  The first public draft was released this Spring and the public comment period is set to close on September 1.  While MACo has recognized the benefits of having a State plan, particularly for reducing policy conflicts between State agencies, it has many concerns with the provisions of the initial draft.  This forum will provide a chance for you to provide feedback and constructive criticism on PlanMaryland directly to Governor O’Malley and the Maryland Department of Planning.

Speakers include:
(1) The Honorable Martin J. O’Malley, Governor of Maryland
(2) Richard E. Hall, Secretary, Maryland Department of Planning
