MACo Board member and Prince George’s County Council member Ingrid Turner has been selected as one of 25 county leaders nationwide to participate in the National Association of Counties (NACo) County Leadership Institute in Washington, DC June 1-5, 2010. Her registration fees and travel expenses are being covered by MACo with NACo sponsors supporting the overall program.
Councilmember Turner was selected last year. However, due to continuing county budget deliberations, she was unable to attend. This year the program is scheduled after the County Council finalizes the budget.
The Institute focuses on enhancing the capacity of county officials to identify and implement innovative solutions to the complex challenges facing county government in the 21st century, including the demands of personal leadership in a new era of government. In addition to core principles of public service leadership with prominent experts, the group will collaborate intensively with each other to develop new ways to attack real-life issues of importance to their citizens. The Institute builds a network of CLI alumni who continue to offer support, suggestions and feedback across years and county lines.
