After opposition to HB 982 by MACo, the House Environmental Matters Committee recommitted the bill. At the request of Chairman Maggie McIntosh, representatives from MACo, MML, the Maryland Department of the Environment, and the Artemis Group (representing glass recyclers) met with the bill sponsor, Delegate Doyle Niemann. The stakeholders reached a consensus to turn the bill into a summer study that would examine both commodity-based recycling and commercial recycling. The amended bill will likely be voted out of committee on March 30.
