Baygrasses within the Chesapeake and its tributaries increased 7 percent in 2023, signaling an improving ecosystem.  Baygrasses (also called submerged aquatic vegetation or SAV) in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries increased by 7 percent in 2023.
