Carroll County has maintained the highest possible credit ratings from all three major rating agencies for the ninth consecutive year, supporting favorable borrowing
costs for county infrastructure and capital projects.
Carroll County announced that Fitch Ratings, S&P Global Ratings, and Moody’s have reaffirmed its AAA/AAA/Aaa bond ratings, respectively, marking the ninth consecutive year the County has received the highest possible ratings from all three agencies.
The ratings reflect the County’s financial position and creditworthiness, helping it secure favorable interest rates when borrowing to finance capital improvements. According to the County, only 103 counties nationwide hold triple AAA ratings.
Maintaining these ratings helps Carroll County manage borrowing costs for projects involving public schools, public safety, public works, general government, conservation and water resources, and fire company loans.
The County attributed its continued strong ratings to responsible fiscal management, economic stability, and long-term financial planning.
“The reaffirmation of the Triple AAA rating confirms not only the creation of responsible budgets, but economic policies as well, and broadens a strong, established reputation that Carroll County maintains as a premier place to live and to work,” said Board of County Commissioners President Joseph Vigliotti.
The County plans to make the finalized credit rating reports available through its Comptroller’s Office.
