Calvert County Parks & Recreation Earns National Reaccreditation

Calvert County’s Department of Parks & Recreation has earned national reaccreditation after demonstrating compliance with 154 standards for park and recreation agency operations, management, and service delivery.

The Calvert County Department of Parks & Recreation has earned reaccreditation through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), recognizing the department’s continued adherence to national standards for parks and recreation services.

CAPRA is the only national accreditation program for park and recreation agencies, evaluating areas including facility management, programming, public safety, resource administration, and organizational operations.

To earn reaccreditation, Calvert County demonstrated compliance with 154 recognized standards and documented its policies and procedures. The review process included a formal application, self-assessment, evaluation by trained volunteers, and a hearing before the accreditation commission.

From the press release:

“Reaccreditation reinforces our commitment to continuous improvement and ensures we meet the highest standards of service for Calvert County residents,” said Parks & Recreation Director Bob Branham.

The designation reflects the department’s ongoing efforts to maintain consistent service standards, strengthen accountability, and identify opportunities to improve operations.
