Fun Fact: Discover Art, Nature, and Seasonal Magic in This Maryland County

Art, nature, and a little bit of magic come together at one of Calvert County’s most distinctive attractions: Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center.

Spanning 50 acres, Annmarie invites visitors to wander wooded paths and discover sculptures nestled throughout the landscape. The garden also includes the Murray Arts Building, which features rotating exhibits, creative programs, and the Nature Nook, offering something for visitors of all ages.

But did you know that Annmarie’s story began with a gift to Calvert County? In 1991, Francis and Ann M. Koenig donated the property to the County to create a sculpture park for the community. Today, the garden has become a year-round destination for art, nature, and family-friendly events, with each season offering something new to explore.

On October 24, Halloween in the Garden will transform Annmarie into a celebration of fall fun. Families are invited to dress in costume and enjoy trick-or-treating, games, crafts, music, and spooky surprises. More than 60 community booths will offer treats and activities while showcasing local businesses and organizations.

As Halloween gives way to the holiday season, Annmarie Garden in Lights transforms the wooded paths into a twinkling nighttime wonderland, with thousands of lights creating a magical experience. The holiday festivities extend beyond the lights. The 18th Annual Ornament Show & Sale, running November 6 through January 1, will feature handmade ornaments from more than 25 regional artists. Visitors can also explore the Holiday Gift Show & Sale, featuring original artwork and locally made gifts.

In December, Annmarie’s popular Holiday Train Display returns, featuring model trains winding through a miniature holiday landscape. The 2026 season will also welcome back the LEGO Holiday Village Display, complete with festive buildings and winter scenes.

Whether you’re planning a spooky October outing or looking for a sparkling holiday tradition, Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center offers plenty of reasons to explore Calvert County. After all, you never know what you might discover around the next bend in the garden!
