The Maryland State Board of Elections is encouraging residents to serve as Election Judges and Election Day Pages ahead of the 2026 General Election,
helping local election offices prepare for voting later this month.
With the 2026 General Election approaching, the Maryland State Board of Elections (SBE) is recruiting Election Judges and Election Day Pages to support election operations across the state’s 24 jurisdictions.
Marylanders aged 16 and older can earn $250 per day serving as Election Judges, with those who have previously served eligible for a one-time $100 bonus. Election Judges help set up polling places, check in voters, and answer questions throughout the voting process.
Local boards of elections rely on Election Judges to staff polling locations and maintain sufficient personnel in the event of cancellations. No prior experience is required, and the program provides training.
“Being an Election Judge is a great way to serve democracy and your fellow Marylanders,” said State Administrator Jared DeMarinis. “For younger Marylanders, the Election Day Page program enables you to help protect every voter’s right to be heard.”
Maryland also offers an Election Day Page program for eligible 14- and 15-year-olds, allowing students to assist voters under the direction of Chief Election Judges while earning service-learning credit hours.
State and county government employees scheduled to serve as Election Judges may also qualify for administrative leave and should check with their employers about additional benefits.
Interested residents can apply through the State Board of Elections or contact their local board of elections for more information.
