Frederick Launches Dashboards To Track Climate and Energy Progress

New public dashboards allow residents to track local projects and progress toward goals outlined in Frederick’s Community-Wide Climate and Energy Action Plan.

Frederick County and the City of Frederick have launched new online dashboards giving residents a public view of progress on local climate and energy initiatives.

The City and County developed their Community-Wide Climate and Energy Action Plan (CEAP) in 2025 with support from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. The plan sets strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prepare the community for climate-related impacts.

The new dashboards move that work into the implementation phase by providing centralized platforms where residents can follow projects, strategies, and performance data. Both track work across areas including transportation, energy, forestry, waste, and buildings, while the County’s dashboard also includes initiatives within the agricultural sector.

From the press release:

“Creating a Climate and Energy Action Plan was an important step, but what matters most is putting that plan into action,” said Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater. “This dashboard gives our community a transparent way to see the work underway, follow our progress, and hold us accountable to the commitments we have made for Frederick County’s future.”

The dashboards also track progress toward the community’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% below 2010 levels by 2030, with a goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.

Residents can use the tools to explore individual projects and efforts addressing issues such as flooding, drought, and extreme heat. The City and County plan to update the dashboards as new data becomes available, and dashboard metrics will also be incorporated into the City’s Sustainability Annual Report.
