Assets that Drive Tourism & Economic Growth at #MACoCon

Sometimes the best way to grow tourism is not by building something new, but by making stronger connections to the assets already in place.

Tourism is an important economic driver for counties, supporting local businesses, generating tax revenue, and helping communities showcase the places, experiences, and industries that make them unique. While marquee attractions often draw attention, many of Maryland’s tourism successes are built around existing assets that connect visitors to communities in new ways. From regional airports to scenic byways, trails, waterfronts, and cross-jurisdictional partnerships, counties are finding innovative ways to improve access, strengthen regional connections, and encourage visitors to explore more of what Maryland has to offer. As travel patterns continue to evolve, collaboration across tourism, transportation, and economic development is becoming an increasingly valuable strategy for expanding visitor experiences and supporting local economies.

Panelists will discuss how partnerships among tourism offices, economic development organizations, transportation providers, and community stakeholders can help increase visitation, encourage longer stays, and create broader economic impact.
