A new competitively bid contract through NACo’s Public Promise Procurement gives Maryland counties another option for purchasing through Amazon
Business, complementing the Business Prime benefits recently made available to eligible MACo members.
MACo recently introduced members to complimentary Business Prime benefits available through its partnership with Amazon Business. Now, counties looking to purchase through the Amazon Business Marketplace also have access to a separate cooperative procurement option through the National Association of Counties’ (NACo) Public Promise Procurement program.
The new Amazon Business contract was competitively solicited through Douglas County, Nebraska, as the Lead Public Agency. According to NACo, the contract supports compliant purchasing while reducing the administrative burden on public agencies.
Through the contract, participating agencies can access the entire Amazon Business Marketplace, with fixed-term price ceilings on tens of thousands of items. Purchasing categories include office supplies, IT equipment and peripherals, janitorial and sanitation products, breakroom supplies and equipment, maintenance, repair and operating supplies, school supplies, hotel supplies, and medical supplies. The cooperative contract is available to counties, cities, states, public schools, and taxing authorities.
For Maryland counties, the Public Promise Procurement contract complements, but is separate from, the benefits available through MACo’s Amazon Business partnership. Eligible MACo members can access complimentary Business Prime benefits, while the Public Promise contract provides an additional procurement vehicle for public agencies purchasing through Amazon Business.
