Talbot County Primary Results

Talbot County’s Council runs fully at-large, and the 2026 primary results will bring some leadership changes to that mid-shore jurisdiction. Results summarized below.

The five-member County Council (Talbot is a charter county without an elected executive) currently comprises three Republicans and two Democrats, suggesting that the general election will be actively contested this November.

Sitting Council Member Keisha Haythe did not seek re-election, but her democratic colleague and two-term incumbent Pete Lesher did, and will join four other primary participants in the general election.

Two incumbent Republicans, Chuck Callahan and Dave Stepp, were successful in their contested primary to return, and will be joined by Frank Gunsallus, Christian MacKendrick, and Wade Strickland in the general election. Incumbent Lynn Mielke did not advance through the primary.
