Baltimore County is making a significant investment in services for older adults, breaking ground on a new Jacksonville Senior Center designed to better
meet the needs of its growing and active senior population.
The new facility will replace the current center with a space that is three times larger, giving the county more room to expand programming, improve accessibility, and support a wider range of activities and services.
County officials say the project was shaped in part by feedback from local residents, including the center’s more than 1,500 active members, who advocated for a larger and more flexible space.
The $19 million, 17,000sq ft project is expected to be completed in summer 2027. It will also feature:
- a multi-purpose room for meals, gatherings, and pickleball
- a significantly expanded fitness room
- a game lounge
- multiple classrooms
- a commercial kitchen
- an outdoor patio
- solar panels
The facility is also being designed to meet LEED Silver sustainability standards.
Together, those features reflect a broader county focus on creating spaces that support healthy, active, and connected aging. Learn More
